Dood, guys, Jane Lynch and iCarly put together has gotta be amazing, am I right? So, of course I eagerly anticipated the airing of this episode and told all my iCarly and Glee watchers that it was a can't miss, and guess what? I was right.
Starting from the opening scene where Sam rushes into rehearsal, stuffs food into her mouth in a typical Sam fashion and is mean to Freddie (classic iCarly, right?) I was smiling because it's iCarly: if you don't laugh at one scene in the episode, then you can keep a pretty straight face. Then, there is some Gibby thrown in for some extra flavor, and, who can have enough Gibby? Come on, his mom thinks he's awesome.
Then there are the opening credits. This is half a minute of completely new scenes for fans to dissect for hours. The cast looks great, grown up and beautiful. Clip after clip of never before seen iCarly episodes are shown and wait. Pause. Sam is spanking Freddie. Wut. Cue enormous rush to Twitter for some tweeting about that Seddie action (and we thought the "Bed Scene" in iGAHR was great).
Then the episode starts in earnest and we see an angry Sam carrying a sack full of clothes and barging into Carly's room before dawn. I'm excited to see the bedroom set added as a new, permanent set because it's an awesome room, and it has a chandelier, made of fire retardant gummy bears. Back to the episode. She's muttering obscene profanities under her breath, well, obscene for a kids show and I could hear "stupid", "mom" and "hate". I love how natural Jennette McCurdy is in her delivery of this and from what I can tell, it was mostly ad libbed, so props to her for being made of pwn. Then Carly wakes up and she's so disoriented and Spencer comes in with a vacuum cleaner asking if anyone broke in. Then Spencer is being Spencer and Carly is being Carly and Sam is asking for food.
The next day Sam is sprawled on the couch watching TV wearing a new penny-tee mentioning bacon (of course). Carly comes downstairs and complains to Sam about having food in her bed and "I heart Vegas" underwear (never panties) strewn across the room. Then Carly shows the underwear. Wow. The things this show gets away with (but srsly, that's what makes it all the better). Then Spencer comes out right when Carly and Sam are talking about how much she hates the word "panties" and finds out Sam has deleted his recordings of "Celebrities Underwater" and confused, yells "Stairs, stairs, stairs" at Sam. How talented is Jerry Trainor? Comedic timing is excellent.
To the Freddie sub-plot. Gibby, Freddie, T-bo, and girls who ask "do you guys sell smoothies?" make for an awesome sub-plot. Dood, this actor who plays T-bo is one of the funniest recurring characters on the show. But, then, when you think about it, all the recurring characters are funny. Mrs. Benson (Mary Scheer) for one is an excellent example. Nathan Kress did a great job on the scene where Freddie begins to yell at the camera and everyone around him. T-bo getting on camera just reminded me of "Bed Intruder" and I really thought he would say "and you can run and tell that" at the end of his sentences, but he didn't.
Gunsmoke, The Killing War, and Full House. Whoever does casting is terrific.
Now, I've noticed that Miranda's acting has gotten progressively better through out the seasons and her Carly-esque break down in the therapy box has definitely gained her big points for me as an actress. I loved the way she started kicking and clawing at the walls and saying "nya" while pulling her hair. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone on set was trying hard to hold their laughter back. Props to Jane and Jennette for keeping a straight face.
I love that they made up and that we finally got to see Sam's mom. I'm hoping we can see more of her in the future, maybe Mrs. Puckett meets Mrs. Benson because that would be one of the best things to ever hit television.
